In the Spirit of McPhineas Lata and Other Stories- the Book is Out Now!!!

I just got word from my publisher, HopeRoad Publishing, that my ebook short story collection, In the Spirit of McPhineas Lata and Other Stories is now out. The collection includes some of my stories set in Botswana. A few, like the title story, have been shortlisted or won prizes including Pulane's Eyes, Jacob's New Bike and The Lies We Can't Hide (which was titled The Christmas Wedding and won two prizes in the 2007 AngloPlatinum Short Story Contest).

The collection is a wonderful example of all of the residual effects of being shortlisted for the Caine Prize. I met the owner of HopeRoad at one of our readings at the British Museum. I liked her straight away. We spoke and when I got home I sent her the manuscript. She liked it and here we are.

The cover photo is from the very talented Graham of One Stone Crow.

You can BUY your copy HERE....please! You can also buy it on Amazon for your Kindle - HERE. Let me know what you think about it.

Congratulations!

Graham always has such wonderful photos of his beloved country and your book cover is no exception.

Oh, perhaps the cover photo is actually taken in Botswana (that makes sense). In any case, I love it.

Nope, Joyful, I'm cheating. I just loved the photo so much and I think it is so applicable to the title story. It was taken in Namibia. But bits of Namibia can look a bit like Bots so I think it squeezes through.

Thanks for your kind words Joyful and Uche.

I just bought your book from Amazon. I am really pleased because I don't have a Kindle or an iPad but I was able to download an App from Amazon to read it on my Mac. Fantastic. I am going to read it over Christmas. Very excited. Congratulations, Lauri. Hope you sell heaps of copies!

Tania- Originally, before the Caine stuff, my plan was to self-publish this collection. I wanted the experience. I was going to self publish an ebook and sell on my blog. Then the Caine stuff came and I met the owner of HopeRoad at the British Museum event. She was interested in working together. I told her I'd send her that manuscript which was ready. She liked it and I decided I'd go with her.

Now the plan is to sell it only as an ebook. Though I'm going to do a very short print run for selling in Botswana because we haven't caught the ebook bus yet. That will only be after March though.
