One World has Arrived!!

The One World anthology has arrived!!! This is me with my copy and a new haircut, which looks better in real life....hmmm... the hair cut not the book.

The whole thing seems amazing. A group of writers (click to see all of us) get together virtually, in the internet. They submit stories to each other, crit them, polish them up and make a collection. Then a couple volunteer to send the collection out to a publisher and VOILA! We have a book!!

Yeah Yeah Yeah!

BUY IT HERE! (though it looks not just yet- keep checking AND Amazon seems to forgot all the rest of the writers.... hmmm.. .....)

All proceeds go to Doctors Without Borders.

AND there are BIG names in there like Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (who knew some of the writers in the group and early on agreed graciously to submit a story), same goes for SA/PEN, Caine Prize winner Henrietta Rose-Innes- my story is right between theirs in the book- does that mean anything? Am I superstitious? (Likely answers: No, Yes) And we have the Super-Big Gun- Jumpha Lahiri.

International cooperation.
We all knew writers would lead the way.

OMG! I know I have never seen you in real life, but that photograph bears no resemblance to the photo I have come to associate with you. When I first caught sight of the picture, I thought you were blogging about the person in the photo until I read the first few lines and realised that it was YOU. You do look different. Well, I guess those who really know you might not agree.

Looking forward to getting and reading the book.

how wonderful!!! congratulations!! I'll order my copy as soon as I finish typing - and yes the photo is sure different from the old one you had on the site - I'll have to download this one for my outlook - I think the hair is awesome btw!

The cover looks great and so does your hair. I like the cut.

I think sandwiched between those two will be a good thing.

That is very funny about me looking so different- I actually don't- though the other picture was taken when I was 40 and of course my hair is longer. My kids hate that black and white picture and have begged me not to use it but I liked it, my husband took it. I'm now 45 so I guess I've aged and my hair is short and not so messy. Honestly I would mistake the new picture for my older sister if I didn't know it was me. HA!

Thanks for the good words guys. I just read Chimamanda's story in the book, one of the few I hadn't already read. It's great, that young woman has a talent, that's for sure.

Whoo-Hoo! I'll order a copy soon. I REALLY want one!

Um...my word verification is "repiggle". I guess that's what one does when the initial piggle fails.

I would suspect piggle has something to do with DYI. Like when the proper tools are not working and you just decide to bash at something with a hammer hoping it will get sorted out. -I piggled it and still it wouldn't budge but a good repiggle did the trick. -

I obviously don't do DYI because then I might be aware of the fact that it is DIY. Ooops.
