I'm Going to London!!!!

I saved this for Friday on purpose- Friday should come carrying gifts. My gift is good news. I've already mentioned this on Facebook but not here on my blog. (For Facebook friends who are also Blogging friends- please excuse the repeat)

So what's my good news?? I'm going to London from the 16-19th February as a speaker at the London School of Economics and Political Science Space for Thought Literary Festival 2011.
I will be giving a talk titled,"Writing Across Borders A Botswana Perspective".

I'm really excited about it. I'm a bit scared of the UK coldness, which I'm not quite sure I'll be able to handle. Cross fingers a spell of spring hovers over London for those few days.

And please, if any of my fabulous readers happen to live in London or will be there at that time, I'd love to meet up with you. One of my favourite things is to turn internet friends into flesh and blood ones, it's like some kind of magic.

So that's my Friday good news- what's yours??

Fabulous news, Lauri! This will be so exciting! Do you have clothes for the English weather??

My good news today is no load of snow overnight! Not writing related, but hey, I really don't like digging myself out. I'm hoping to end up living in a country where I'll never have to worry about snow again ;)

How wonderful for you. I shall miss you by a month, and by one country. I'm off to Paris to see my Dad next Friday. Good luck and many more trips. Maybe California? I hope so.

Sue- I don't see how I won't make the launch. I must be there for the 16th so I must arrive on the 15th at least. Unless I arrive very late I'm going to be at the launch.

Elspeth- I've never been to London except passing through airports so I'm quite excited.

Miss Footloose- I have a few jerseys which can be worn on top of each other. And I have my World Cup jacket I wore to the Ghana/Australia game in Rustenburg. I told my husband on the last day in London I'd pop into a pub with a pile of homesick expat South Africans and auction my Bafana Bafana jacket and come home loaded! HA!
Yes- and great news about the snow. I'm not a fan of snow either.

Gutsywriter- I doubt I'll see you in California. When we were getting my daughter's American visa last year the woman at the embassy told me I would never be able to travel to America on my Botswana passport (the only one I have) because I didn't renounce my American citizenship according to their new rules which involves some sort of cermony in front of their flag. I followed the rules at the time but according to her that's not good enough. In any case, there are many countries left in the world for me to visit and I might find you in one of them!
